MEANING OF DATA AND INFORMATION:-
Data is collection of tax or opionon express usually in no. words., symbols or pictures data is collected and used to help in decision making process . it is the foundation of decision making process,it is the raw material of information when data is process it become information ,data may be of 2 types.
*primary data*secondary data.

*primary data:- primary data is data which is collected for the ist time by the researches so primary data is ist hand data/original data.

*secondary data:- it is the second hand data which has been aleready collected by the others for other proposes,information is processed data.information is obtain throw process of data ,data processing involves sorting ,classifying ,presenting ,calculating ,summarizing ,information demostraes the realities ,information is used as input by the marketing manager for making marketing decision.


SOURCES OF DATA AND INFORMATION:-

Primary data is obtain through market research and secoundry data is obtain throw of internal or external sources ,internal sources includes internal records of the orgn. such as sales recodes ,accounting records etc. external sources includes newspapers , magazine,trade journals ,balance sheets of companies ,research report of various orgn. etc. scoundrelly data can also be purchased from commercial marketing research agency and the sources of information are internal support systems and research systems ,they are also known as component of marketing information systems.

*ECONOMIC INDICATOR :- Demand and supply are contanly change in the market.fluctuation in the demand and supply affects the price and journal market condition ,market information indicates the trained of price change and journal market condition.

*KNOWLEDGE OF COMPETITORS:-In competitive market competitors always try to provides better services and grab the opportunity ,in this situation only such a marketer will be successful who can correctly guess the weakness and strength of the competitors.it is possible only when he has up to date marketing information particularly regarding his competitors.

*KNOWLEDGE OF CONSUMER DEMAND:- As todays markets is consumer oriented market .every marketer needs up to date information about the consumers .no marketer will be successful; without perfect knowledge of consumers needs ,liking ,preferences ,fashion etc.

*DECISION MAKING PROCESS:-Information is basis from decision making process ,it helps the marketing manger to identify the problems to solves them ,decision will be write only when it is based on adequate reliable and up to date information .

*PLANING :-Information is foundation for planing marketing manager need various information about the market to formulate the marketing planes.effective planning is possible only when adequate and reliable information is available .

*CONTROLLING PROCESS:-To achieve desired result their must be controlling process in marketing activities ,information is needed to evaluate marketing activities and to task corrective actions. so controlling process can not be exercised without adequate and reliable information.
