MEANING OF ORGANIZATION'

Today , more and more people are employed by organization , we need so many services to sustain life,which are provided by them, hence ,organization are processing units, which transform certain inputs from the environment into specified outputs desired by society ,they have become instruments of work that produces essential goods and services for the greater society .

An organization comes into existences when there are numbers of persons willing to contribute towards a common goal,it is a human association for the attainment of a common goal, organizations are goal seeking devices ,in the words of Mooney and reily."organization is the form of every human associations for the attainments of a common purpose/goal .
Organization is a group of two or more people who work together in a structured setting to achieve common goal".

Organizations as"planned units, deliberately structured for the purpose of attaining goals ".without a goal no organization would have a reasons to exits. hences, a basic elements of any organizations is a goal. we may define organization as a collections of individuals working together in a division of labor components of an organizations as shown in fig.

First an organization is a collection of people ,their combined effort produces synergy or a total effort that is greater than the sum of the individual efforts,second ,through division of labor or specialization the work is subdivided which permits individuals to develop expertise in their assigned task,as a results, they improve their own and the groups effectiveness,third ,these specialized taks must be coordinated as the people work together towards the fourth components ,a common goal.

SOME IDENTIFIED THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ORGANIZATION.

*SOCIAL COMPOSITION:
Organizations consist of people who develop social relations and patterns of interactions.
*GOAL ORIENTATION:
Organizations exist for stated and sometimes unstated purposes.
*DIFFERENTIATED FUNCTIONS:
For efficiency,organizations typically divide the work so members can specialize in one or two areas.
*RATIONAL COORDINATION:
Word activities are coordinated in some rational manner.
*CONTINUITY:
Most organizations are born with the intentions of staying alive.although that does not always happens.

*ENVIRONMENT:
Every organization is influenced by its internal environment as well as external environment such as economics.social,political-legal and technical environment ,hence they have to maintain a close relationship with them.
